2007宝峰寺禅修营 First Theravada meditation retreat in Mainland China 江西宝峰寺连续三期举办10天密集禅修营，由Mahinda尊者主持。参加者学习坐禅，行禅，慈悲观等南传禅修法门。近年在国内多地举办的Goenka内观禅大受欢迎，不过由法师亲自带领，面向大众的大型禅修营，在国内还算是第一个。特别是Mahinda尊者是国内人，在缅甸出家，为著名帕奥禅师的弟子，也是七位受帕奥禅师认可传授禅法的弟子之一。尊者通晓汉语巴利语英语等多种语言，不但对汉传佛教的传统十分了解，对巴利三藏内容和语言也十分熟练，这次在马祖道一的道场宝峰禅寺举办这个禅修营，实在是国内佛教界一件大事！尊者白天安排与参加者小参（检查进度），晚上为大家讲解《大念住经》。尊者从巴利原文逐句阐述，在难解的地方也加上注释和相关的故事记载，内容生动活泼，义理亦让人深省。
有点遗憾的是这次禅修营没有大规模的宣传，来到的参加者无不赞叹能够碰上这个禅修营的因缘。参加者都是法师们推荐或与寺院活动的活跃分子。尽管国内寺院不少，这种让普通在家人体会什么是禅修的机会实在不多，以本人二月在缅甸跟班智达禅师学习的经验，这次禅修营的策划和安排十分认真，在国内可以说是首屈一指。有兴趣者可以考虑参加第三期的禅修营，大约在月底前开始。不过有兴趣的朋友们先要有一些思想准备，第一，密集禅修营是认真的学习，10天期间禁语；第二，每天大约十多个小时坐禅和行禅。
我这次来宝峰寺是因为答应衍真法师给江西佛学院的学僧讲课。前天为大家安排了一个介绍《佛教文献学》和《梵文字母研究》的讲座，接着连续一周为大家教授梵文字母，包括其历史发展和发音原理。很高兴大家反映热烈，毕竟国内学习梵语的机会不多。这次课程比较密集，作业也比较多，大家十分用功，相信不用一周便能够把梵文字母学会，为八月的密集梵语课程打好一个良好的基础。
For the past years, Goenka Vipassana meditation retreats became increasingly popular with Buddhists in mainland China. Such meditation program offers participants opportunities to experience Buddhist meditation, learn how to sit and walk mindfully, observe breathing and bodily sensation, observe noble silence for a period of 10 days. Ideally, such retreats may also be run by a meditation master who can provide more lively interaction with the participants. In the past, such retreats are available only in Buddhist countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand and most notably Myanmar where Buddhist practices are part of the daily lives of the local people. As vipassana-type meditation spread all over the world, such retreats are organized in many countries. This is the case with Ven. Mahinda, who is from China himself, became a Theravada monk in Mynamar under the renowed meditation teacher Ven. Pak Ao. Ven. Mahinda in fact is one of the seven authorized meditation teacher under the Pak Ao system. The retreat is run by Baofeng monastery in Jiangxi. The scenery here is wonderful, air is fresh and everything is provided to the participants free-of-charge. It is open to all who wish to learn more about Buddhist meditation. This is indeed good news for Buddhists in China. Good job, Baofeng monastery!
